Yosemite Trail DIscovered Trip – March, 2022
My husband and I took a whirlwind trip through California during the month of March.
Then, as we traveled throughout the state, I gave author talks to schools and museums regarding Yosemite Trail Discovered.
A highlight was meeting Aanthony (yes, two A’s because his twin is named Aaron) when I spoke at the Mariposa Historical Museum. Many scenes in Yosemite Trail Discovered take place in and around Mariposa. Aanthony is the great-great-great grandson of the Miwuk chief Cipriano, a chief mentioned in the book, who helps the historical figure Jim Savage make treaties with the tribes in the gold fields.
A second highlight occurred during one of my school visits. I met a girl in San Jose, CA who is a descendant of Virginia Reed, one of the historical characters in my book. Virginia Reed is pictured on the far right of the cover. My main fictional character, Daniel, meets Virginia as a twelve-year-old in book one while they travel together on on the Oregon Trail. Daniel rekindles his friendship with her in book two.
A third highlight was visiting Yosemite. Here is a a video taken from a scene in the book that occurs on page 245. To fully enjoy the video, click to full screen.
In the next few weeks I’ll share videos from other locations in the book. For those getting my newsletter, watch your inbox for notices of these uploaded videos. If you’re not getting my newsletter, click here. If you’re reading the book, the videos can help you visualize these spots. If not, the clips will hopefully whet your appetite to join the adventure. Please share!
You can find Yosemite Trail Discovered at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in paperback, hardback, and eBook. (Hot links to historical characters mentioned in the book are provided in the back of the eBook).
