New Book in the Works!
This month I began work on a new historical YA novel, Spy Scouts. As a sequel to Undercover Scouts (a revision of my previously published Rising Hope), this book follows the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides that appeared in book one (Tadzio, Magdalena, and Lech) as they face the challenges of living in post-war Poland, now a communist country.
At the end of book one, Tadzio follows his father to join a new Resistance group called NIE. This abbreviation stands for Niepodległość (pronounced nee-aye’-poh-leg-wash-ch) which means “Independence” in Polish. It’s curious to note that the word nie in Polish means “no.” In book two, Tadzio and his friends fight to say “no” to communism by working as spies during the Cold War.
At this point, I am still in the research-gathering stage. I recently spoke with Rev. Msg. Kurzaj, a priest who lived in Poland during the Cold War and now lives in Texas. I hope to interview others as I prepare to plot the book.
If you know anyone I can interview, please contact me at email@example.com.
